Blue Flags are once again to be flown at four of Ceredigion’s most popular beaches in 2022 at Borth, Aberystwyth South, Llangrannog and Tresaith with an additional 13 beaches achieving Seaside Award status and a further 4 obtaining Green Coast Awards.

Beaches achieving Blue Flag and Green Coast awards must meet the highest water quality standard and are judged for the provision of facilities for beach users and for demonstrating good management and safety provision. The Seaside Award recognises beaches that have good public facilities, water quality, safety provision and management.

Councillor Clive Davies, Ceredigion County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration has welcomed the news that a number of our beaches continue to be recognised in this manner, with these quality benchmark awards: “It’s fantastic to see Blue and Seaside Award flags flying at Ceredigion’s most popular bathing beaches again this year and we are fully expecting to see our coastline and beaches very busy once again throughout 2022 as the visitor economy recovers from the effects of the pandemic.

“I am also proud to say that; without the continued and much valued support of the numerous voluntary groups and individuals championing our Caru Ceredigion mantra, by undertaking regular clean-up activities on our beaches and along the foreshore of Ceredigion has in no small way contributed in our ability to once again put forward such a large number of our beaches and successfully obtain these prestigious awards which places Ceredigion beaches amongst the very best in Wales and the UK”.
