A consultation will be held on the future of education provision at Ysgol Gynradd Beulah and Ysgol Gynradd Trewen. A consultation will also be held regarding the future of education provision at Ysgol Gynradd Cilcennin. These decisions were made as recommended by the Council’s School Review Panel.

In a meeting on 10 July 2018, the Ceredigion County Council Cabinet approved the School Review Panel’s recommendations for Beulah, Trewen and Cenarth primary schools in the south of the county. In another separate decision, the Cabinet approved the Panel’s recommendations for Ysgol Gynradd Cilcennin in the centre of the county.

The Panel recommends to approve the continuation of education at Ysgol Gynradd Cenarth and for the school to remain open, and to cease to maintain education provision at Beulah and Trewen primary schools as from 31 August 2019. It was recommended to cease to maintain provision at Ysgol Gynradd Cilcennin as from 31 August 2019. The Panel recommends that the consultation process needs to begin regarding Beulah and Trewen primary schools as well as Ysgol Gynradd Cilcennin. The consultations will begin mid-September 2018.

The Cabinet member responsible for Learning Services, Councillor Catrin Miles said, “The School Review Panel has carefully considered the relevant factors for the future provision of education in the Beulah and Trewen primary schools area and also Ysgol Gynradd Cilcennin area. Following Cabinet approval of the Panel’s recommendations, it is now essential that we consult fully to have feedback from the local communities on the proposals.”

The Cabinet decisions contribute towards realising the Council’s corporate priorities of investing in people’s future. The Full Council will make any further decisions on these matters after the consultation process.
