Arrangements are being put into place for childcare service provision for front-line workers in Ceredigion.
Following the announcement regarding school closures within the County, there is a need for childcare services to ensure the continuation of front-line services.
Initially, we consider the front-line Services to be Health Service workers, Police, Fire Service, Social Services or Care Services. Workers in the Care Services are in the Council’s care homes, the authority's private homes, and those providing domiciliary care in people’s homes within the authority. We will review this in line with Welsh Government advice.
There are five locations across Ceredigion providing childcare provision, which are:
- Cardigan Integrated Children's Centre (Canolfan Enfys Teifi)
- Aberaeron Primary School
- Dyffryn Cledlyn School, Drefach
- Ysgol Y Dderi, Lampeter
- Ysgol Gymraeg Aberystwyth
The service will run seven days a week, from 8.00am to 6.00pm until the schools re-open. Parents will be expected to provide packed lunches for their children as the service will not be providing food at present. The locations may change depending on demand.
The service is not intended to replace the service provided by private childcare providers but to increase capacity when schools close on Friday.
Parents are able to register for the service electronically and book their required sessions on a weekly basis. For more information and to register, visit the website: https://www.ceredigion.gov.uk/resident/childcare-for-key-workers/
