To celebrate Carers Week 2018, held between 11 and 17 June, the Carers Unit are this year holding an event for Carers on Friday 15 June in the Llanina Arms, Llanarth.

The theme for the event is ‘Healthy and Connected’ where local people, services and businesses will come together to support Carers in Ceredigion.

A range of organisations such as Hafal, All Wales Forum and Arts4Wellbeing will be at the event to give information, advice and guidance. There will be a number of activities and talks thoughout the day on craft activities, mindfulness, managing stress and looking after your physical wellbeing and emotional wellbeing. Therapies such as hand and shoulder massage will also be available.

Ceredigion County Council’s Carers Unit are pleased to announce that Ben Lake MP will be attending the event from 1pm and will be available to chat to Carers.

Carers Champion, Councillor Catherine Hughes, will be at the event to talk to Carers throughout the day. Councillor Hughes said: “This year, Carers Week asks that we keep Carers healthy and connected. Carers often ignore their own needs, delaying doctor’s appointments or breaks from caring, which could help them stay well. So, whether it is through work, the community, school or university, at home, or among friends, we all have a role to play in helping Carers access the support they need to look after their own physical and mental health this Carers Week.”

Events are taking place across the country during Carers Week, and thousands of people have already pledged their support for carers online. To find out more about events in Ceredigion, visit www.carersweek.org. Search for Carers Week on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
