The number of COVID-19 cases continue to increase across the County and we are seeing wide community transmission.
There is a rise in cases in several areas over the past week, and we remain concerned about the number of cases in Aberystwyth and Lampeter, where there are over 200 per 100,000 of the population. We can’t be complacent as there is a spread of the virus across the county, moving from north to south. This shows how quickly the situation can change.
7 of the 9* areas in Ceredigion MSOA are over 50 cases per 100,000 of the population and the county is up to 116.9. The majority of cases are still in the age group 20-29 years old. The case numbers for 25s and under is at 145.5 per 100,000 of the population across the County.
Getting both doses of the vaccine is the most effective way of protecting yourself and others. Take the opportunity for a vaccination by going to your appointment or going along to a walk-in centre. Hywel Dda University Health Board have Walk In vaccine clinics to enable Ceredigion residents to have your first or second vaccine without an appointment at a suitable time.
If you have symptoms of coronavirus or if you test positive, you will need to self-isolate whether you have been fully vaccinated or not. If you are identified as a contact by the Contact Tracing, you must self-isolate, even if you get a negative test result. This means you cannot leave home and you cannot attend your workplace.
Welsh Government rules are still in place, and it’s important to follow them, including:
- Keep a social distance;
- Wash hands regularly;
- Limit social contact;
- Wear a face mask in indoor public places, shops and on public transport;
- Self-isolate immediately at the first sign of any COVID-19 symptoms and arrange a test immediately, only leaving home to get tested. You can book a test on the Welsh Government website https://gov.wales/getting-tested-coronavirus-covid-19 or by calling 119.
The pandemic is not over and the virus continues to move around our county. Together, we can keep Ceredigion safe.
