The annual 5x60 Dance Competition took part at Theatre Felinfach on Wednesday, 18 December 2019.

The 5x60 Dance Competition is held to encourage girls to take part in physical activity through dance.

Solo, pairs and group competitions took place, with entries from Penglais School, Aberaeron Comprehensive School, Ysgol Bro Pedr, Ysgol Henry Richard and Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi. The schools have had weekly lunchtime dance sessions to prepare routines for the competition, and it was an opportunity for the children to showcase what they have been doing throughout the term.

“It’s fantastic to be back at Theatr Felinfach for our annual Dance competition. It’s a great reward after a term of preparation to show what they’ve been doing in such a professional setting as the Theatr in Felinfach” said Alwyn Davies, Active Young People Manager.

The Pairs winners were Lisa Hughes and Soffia Davies from Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi. The Solo winner was Scarlett Haigh from Aberaeron Comprehensive School. The Group winners were Aberaeron Comprehensive School.

Councillor Catrin Miles is the Cabinet Member with responsibility for Learning Services, Lifelong Learning and Leisure. She said, “Physical activity is an important part of keeping healthy. It is encouraging to see girls having the opportunity to dance, socialise, compete and be healthy at the same time. Thank you to Active Young People Team and Theatr Felinfach for giving our young people this opportunity.”

The Active Young People Team would like to thank Theatr Felinfach for supporting the competition and for working in partnership with us.
