Ceredigion residents are reminded to be vigilant this festive period in order to protect loved ones and the community.

The festive period is a time where we all come together, spend time with our family, friends and neighbours. It is a time to celebrate, to look back at the year that has been and bring in the new year with a cheer. However, this year will be very different to the ones we’ve celebrated in the past.

In order to protect your loved ones, especially older or vulnerable people in your bubble, you should reduce unnecessary contact with people you do not live with as much as possible in the two weeks before you form your Christmas bubble. Think again about the plans you have made for the Christmas period.

We face a very serious situation in Ceredigion, and Wales, at the moment. The virus is spreading through contact between people. To reduce it we all have to reduce the number of people we see and mix with.

The four administrations have reached an agreement on a single set of UK-wide measures to help people come together with their loved ones in a way that is as safe as possible.

  • Travel restrictions across the four administrations and between tiers will be lifted to provide a window for households to come together between 23 and 27 December.
  • Up to three households can form an exclusive ‘bubble’ to meet at home during this period. When a bubble is formed it is fixed, and must not be changed or extended further at any point.
  • Each Christmas bubble can meet at home, at a place of worship or an outdoor public place, but existing, more restrictive rules on hospitality and meeting in other venues will be maintained throughout this period.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant to coronavirus symptoms. If you, or a member of your Christmas bubble, tests positive for coronavirus, or develops coronavirus symptoms, all members of the Christmas bubble must self-isolate for 10 days as if they were members of the same household. You should only leave your home to get tested. You can apply for a test online https://gov.wales/apply-coronavirus-covid-19-test or by phoning 119.

The actions you take this December can and will have an impact. If we play our part now, we can help make 2021 a better year for everyone.

The best present we can give our families this year is a coronavirus-free Christmas. Celebrate safely to keep Ceredigion safe.
