Local boat companies are being encouraged to run day and night-time trips from the jetty in Aberystwyth. A renovation of the wooden jetty on the Aberystwyth promenade will make it safe to be used by shallow draft commercial boat operators.

Boat companies could benefit from the thousands of people who visit the promenade daily during good weather. The renovation could offer another attraction for residents and visitors along the popular promenade.

The jetty will be renovated by Ceredigion County Council after being successful in securing funding from the Coastal Communities Fund to rebuild the jetty after it became badly damaged by marine worms.

The Cabinet member responsible for Economy and Regeneration, Councillor Rhodri Evans, said, “We hope the jetty will be ready for use from June 2019. It offers a fantastic opportunity not only for pleasure boat companies, but it also gives residents and visitors the chance to see the beautiful coastline in the Aberystwyth area from another perspective.”

“There is no reason why boat trips couldn’t run beyond daylight hours. The well-lit promenade and outstanding sunsets could offer passengers a unique view of Aberystwyth and Cardigan Bay.”
