A careers fair will be held in March where career opportunities and apprenticeships within the Council will be promoted.
Taster sessions will be offered to pupils by Hyfforddiant Ceredigion Training (HCT) and there will be an opportunity to receive information from other services within the Council such as the Youth Service, Leisure Service and Ceredigion Museum.
Pupils will have the opportunity to find out more about Jobs Growth Wales+ and the apprenticeships available with HCT.
Various services from across the Council will be available to talk about apprenticeship roles based in the Council, early careers, work experience and volunteering opportunities, giving pupils a chance to explore their interests and get a real insight into the variety of career pathways available.
Councillor Bryan Davies, Leader of Ceredigion County Council and Cabinet Member responsible for Learning and Development, said: “We have great career opportunities available with the Council. Staff employed by the Council also have the chance to learn Welsh with the Council’s Work Welsh scheme, with classes available for every level of fluency. I hope that this event has gained some pupils interest to start their careers with us.”
Andrew Wonklyn, Team Leader at Careers Wales, said: “The Choose Your Future event is a fantastic opportunity for young people in Ceredigion to expand their horizons when it comes to careers and their future choices. By bringing school pupils together with local and national employers, they can learn more about the opportunities available to them after school and in the future. The event will give pupils a chance to think about what appeals to them and ask questions directly to the experts themselves. Our expert careers advisers will also be there on the day to help pupils think about their next steps.”
