Following the substantial work that construction company WRW have carried out, the plans for the Integrated Resource Centre, Cylch Caron have been approved.
WRW was appointed construction company for the Scheme in October 2019. Since then plans have been developed for the building in consultation with all partners.
The impressive Cylch Caron scheme is being developed in partnership between Ceredigion County Council, Mid-Wales Housing, Hywel Dda University Health Board and the Welsh Government. It will provide a brand new building designed to provide health and social care services; together with specialist housing for people who have care needs in the Tregaron area.
Plans were submitted to Ceredigion County Council’s Development Management Department, with reserved matters plans approved.
The scheme has a new Senior Responsible Officer. Following the retirement of Sue Darnbrook, Corporate Director at Ceredigion County Council, Peter Skitt was made Senior Responsible Officer. With a high level of health element to the scheme, it was agreed by all partners that Peter, Ceredigion County Director with Hywel Dda University Health Board, would take on the role.
Peter Skitt said: “I would like to pay tribute to Sue for her exceptional hard work and dedication in bringing the Cylch Caron development to its present stage and I look forward to continuing this and seeing the project come to fruition for the benefit of the people of Tregaron and surrounding communities.”
Councillor Catherine Hughes said, “As Chair of the Stakeholder Board, I wish to thank Sue Darnbrook for her contribution to Cylch Caron and wish Peter Skitt all the best in his new role as he leads the scheme forward.”
The vision of Cylch Caron is to build on the existing resilience and commitment to caring for people in the Cylch Caron community. Through this the partnership will create an innovative, rural model of community-based care to meet care, health and housing need in the area that is fit for today and sustainable for tomorrow.
With planning consent agreed, this is an element of the full business case which is close to completing. The next step for the scheme is to work with Welsh Government to submit the Full Business Case.
