It is the duty of the parent of every child of compulsory school age to ensure that he/she receives efficient full-time education suitable to the child’s age, ability and aptitude.

If the child is a registered pupil at school, this means regular attendance at that school and at the times prescribed by the school in agreement with the local authority. In Ceredigion, the Education Inclusion Service is responsible for ensuring that schools adhere to their statutory duties with regard to attendance, and the service works closely with schools and other partner agencies to support parents in ensuring that they fulfill their legal responsibility.
