On the eve of this year's National Eisteddfod in Tregaron and its surrounding areas, a St David's Day Parade will be held along the streets of the town to celebrate our culture and language.

There will be an opportunity for anyone to join in on the Parêd – individuals, organisations, children and young people or adults. The procession is being held on Friday 28 February 2020. The procession will start at 1.00 p.m. outside Ysgol Henry Richard followed by a march towards the town square in front of the Henry Richard statue where there will be a short ceremony and light entertainment.

St David’s Parades are becoming increasingly commonplace year on year and a “Parêd” is now held in towns and cities across Wales such as Cardiff, Aberystwyth, Haverfordwest, Carmarthen and Lampeter. In a similar vein to the parades in these other locations, Parêd Gŵyl Dewi Treagron’s aim is to draw as many local people as possible together to celebrate the day of Wales’ National Patron Saint, our Welsh identity and the Welsh language in a sea of colour and song in the town centre. Whether you speak Welsh or not, have been born and bred locally or have made the area your home the organisers wish to bring people from all backgrounds together.

“This event is an opportunity for us to celebrate our Patron saint's day and to be proud of our heritage and culture. A big thanks for the co-operation with the arrangements and I hope a good crowd will support the first parade of its kind in Tregaron.” said the Councillor Catherine Jane Hughes for Tregaron area.

All individuals or groups that wish to take part in the procession need to congregate at Ysgol Henry Richard from 1.30 p.m. onwards and the Parêd itself will start at 2.00 pm. Paraders who are taking part are welcome to bring a Welsh flag or the flag of your local club, school, church or organisation to fly the flags along the streets.

“We really look forward to the St David's Day parade where our pupils will remember and celebrate our National Patron Saint. We hope to see the community coming together for a celebration.” said Mr Dorian Pugh, Headmaster of Ysgol Henry Richard in Tregaron.

As well as Tregaron, remember the other four parades in the county to celebrate St. David’s Day.
