Ceredigion County Council has announced its latest apprentice recruitment drive with 6 new and exciting opportunities now being advertised at careers.ceredigion.gov.uk.

With opportunities available for an Assistant Auditor, Youth Worker and Roadworker as well as 3 Apprenticeships in Business Administration based in Corporate Service Support, Learning and Development, and the Carers Unit, candidates have until Sunday 23rd August to apply.

When the Coronavirus outbreak struck in March it meant having to rethink how to continue to offer apprenticeship opportunities for the people of Ceredigion, Caroline Lewis, Corporate Lead Officer, People and Organisation commented, “I’m pleased to say we are continuing to offer apprenticeships across a range of professions despite the challenges that Coronavirus has brought.  Activities that would have previously taken place face to face, such as interviews and training are taking place online. All applicants will be supported throughout the whole process and the health and safety of the public, our existing staff and new recruits is paramount.”

Following completion of his ‘A’ Levels at Aberaeron Comprehensive School, nineteen year old Callum Baugh joined Ceredigion Council last autumn as an Apprentice ICT Technician. Usually based at the Canolfan Rheidol office in Aberystwyth, Callum has been working from home due to the Coronavirus pandemic, he commented, “I’ve adjusted to working from home and I’m in touch with people in my team and my manager daily, if not several times in a day, so it’s been a positive experience, even though it’s under difficult circumstances. My learning on the job and my qualification has continued online and I’ve learnt so much in the last few months.”

Cllr. Ray Quant MBE commented, “Apprenticeships offer a fantastic opportunity for people to earn while they learn and I’m pleased that we’re still able to offer 6 apprenticeship opportunities this year for people to start or develop their careers.  The overwhelming majority of our apprentices go on to secure permanent employment with the council or move on to further training. I hope people across Ceredigion will consider applying, these opportunities are not to be missed.”

The new apprenticeship opportunities are advertised online now at careers.ceredigion.gov.uk with vacancies closing on Sunday 23 August 2020.
