Cases of Lyme disease in the UK have been dramatically increasing in recent years and as such would like to remind you all, particularly if you spend a lot of time outdoors (whether as part of your work or pleasure) are aware of ticks and the risks they can bring.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is spread to humans by infected ticks. Tick bites are noted to be more common in late spring, early summer and during the autumn and can often go unnoticed.

Not every tick carries infective organisms and so not every bite will transmit disease however, a tick can remain feeding for several days before dropping off and the longer an infected tick is allowed to feed, the more likely an infection will result.
