Across Cors Caron: Maesllyn - Ystrad Meurig
A flat 3 mile route across Cors Caron National Nature Reserve between Maesllyn Farm and the small village of Ystrad Meurig.
The gravel surfaced route follows the old railway line initially alongside the B4343 road between Tregaron and Pontrhydfendigaid. After approximately half a mile it reaches Allt-Ddu Farm and then changes to a northerly direction running dead straight for over 2 miles across the natural wetland of Cors Caron.
Along the route there are information boards give a range of information about the route and the wildlife that can be found alongside the track.
At approximately 1 mile from Maesllyn Farm, adjacent to the former railway bridge across the River Fflur is a large elevated bird hide facing west allowing discreet viewing of a wide area of the Nature Reserve. 1 mile further north is the former railway bridge across the River Teifi. where small fish can be seen swimming in the crystal clear water in the river from the bridge above. The route ends at the former station site at the village of Ystrad Meurig.
The route is generally flat and is suitable for most grades of cyclist.
Follow the B4343 for approximately 2 miles to a large lay by on the left hand side of the road. At the northern end of this lay by is a gate giving access to the route together with maps and information about Cors Caron.
