Ceredigion Care Society
Registered Charity No: 500662
The Ceredigion Care Society, which was formed over 30 years ago, is a registered Charity dealing with people who are homeless, living in substandard accommodation or are in need of housing and welfare advice. The society is mainly funded by the Welsh Assembley Government and works closely with the Local Authority and other statutory and voluntary agencies. The schemes developed by the Ceredigion Care Society were in response to concerns about growing numbers of single rough sleepers and "hidden" homelessness throughout Ceredigion.
The Ceredigion Care Society runs a Night Shelter in Aberystwyth for rough sleepers, which can accommodate up to 5 people on a 'first come first served basis'. Guests of the Shelter are able to access each evening between 8.00pm and 10.00pm, and leave the next morning at 8.30am. Whilst at the Shelter, guests will be offered a hot meal and/or hot drinks and a warm bed for the night.
The Night Shelter is an alcohol and drug free house (dry shelter) and any persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted to enter the Shelter.
Should you require any further information on the Scheme, then please contact the Accommodations Manager who is based in our Aberystwyth office on 01970 639111.
The Bond Scheme operates throughout Ceredigion and offers help and support to local people in finding and securing safe, clean, affordable accommodation in the private sector. We can provide a bond guarantee to those who fit our criteria in place of a traditional cash bond against loss or damage to the property and may be able to help clients access a rent deposit if required. One of the biggest difficulties single people face is the ability to secure quality, affordable accommodation in the private sector. Landlords require a cash bond and rent deposit and this, more often then not, is financially out of reach of many people particularly those on benefits.
If you would like further information on the Bond Scheme or would like to refer a client for an appointment, then please contact the Bond Workers at either our Aberystwyth office on (01970) 639111 or our Cardigan office on (01239) 621807.
Floating Support Scheme
Support Workers are available throughout Ceredigion and the Ceredigion Care Society currently employ 6 Support Workers between our offices in Aberystwyth and Cardigan. Their aim is to provide advocacy and support to help clients address any issues, problems or concerns they may have and to help them maintain tenancies. They will promote independent living and encourage clients to integrate into the community and fulfil their potential, thereby, increasing their overall quality of life.
Should you require further information on the Floating Support Scheme then please contact the Support Co-ordinator who is based in our Aberystwyth office.
