Advice For Businesses Hit By Flooding
Businesses in Ceredigion affected by the recent flooding are being encouraged to contact Ceredigion County Council's Flood Incident Line for advice and assistance. Requests for assistance will be assigned to an officer who will be able to offer advice and guidance according to the requirements of the business.
Business advice is part of the support offered by Ceredigion County Council for communities affected by the floods.
The Council is urging all businesses in north Ceredigion to contact the Flood Incident Line whether they have been affected directly with damage or loss or indirectly through cancellation of bookings and orders.
Councillor Gareth Lloyd, Ceredigion's Cabinet member with responsibility for Economic Development explains:
"The Council needs to gather information from all businesses affected directly by the floods and from those who may have suffered as a consequence either immediately or over the coming months due to loss of trade or any drop in tourism activity. I would urge businesses, whether you need help or not, to contact the Council so that we can assess the full impact of the incident on the local economy and to consider actions which might be appropriate.
The Council will do all it can to help. However, if we don't know what's needed, we can't assess how we can help. We need to know how the flooding has impacted on businesses in Ceredigion."
Immediate help is available to businesses in the form of access to help and advice from specialists and advisers and access to business rate relief http://www.ceredigion.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=18310
Councillor Gareth Lloyd added: "Whilst we appreciate that some businesses have been badly affected by the floods, it's vital that Ceredigion is perceived as being open for business. The flooding was confined to a small area of northern Ceredigion - our roads are open, the rail link is unaffected and, for the sake of the local economy, visitors and business people need to know that it's 'business as usual."'
For advice and guidance please contact the Flood Incident Line on 01545 572233 (Monday – Friday 09:00 – 17:00).
