Care Council for Wales - Confidence in Care Campaign
The Care Council for Wales is the social care workforce regulator in Wales and is responsible for promoting and securing high standards across the social services and social care workforce.
Their aim is to ensure that the workforce in Wales has the right skills and qualifications to work to a high professional standard, and is capable of delivering high quality services that the public (including service users and their carers) have confidence in.
All social care workers are required to register with the Care Council. This ensures that the person is suitable to work in social care and that they have agreed to adhere to the Care Council's Code of Practice.
The Code of Practice ensures that social care workers know what is expected of them and that the people who use the service know what standards they can expect from the people working with. If a worker breaks the code, this can lead to an investigation and action by their employer and in some cases, action from the Care Council itself.
The Care Council is currently running a campaign 'Confidence in Care' which aims to raise awareness about practice standards and the Codes of Practice for Social Care Workers. You can find out more by visiting their website: www.ccwales.org.uk
