The Friends of Ceredigion Museum
The Friends of Ceredigion Museum exists to support the work of the museum.
They hold one general meeting in the autumn and two or three other meetings each year, including a trip to other museums.

How the Friends serve the museum
- Nearly all the money from the annual subscriptions; the tax concession allowed under the Gift Aid scheme; and the interest and capital from legacies left to the Friends is used to boost the acquisitions budget (A small amount is used for printing and postage)
- The "Friends" as a registered charity is able to attract grants for which the museum is ineligible
- They act as a bridge between the museum and the wider community.
- They advise the museum through the committee and the Annual General Meeting.
- They provide voluntary help when required.

- An annual programme of events in the museum and gallery which is circulated at the beginning of the year.

How Ceredigion Museum serves the local community
The Museum:
- preserves, restores and displays artifacts relating to the history of Ceredigion
- is the home of the Young Archeologists Club
- organises art and other exhibitions in the Gallery and temporary exhibitions on historical themes in the auditorium and elsewhere
- organises annual art competitions to support World Book Day in March and The Big Draw in October
- is the venue for the annual exhibition of the Cardiganshire Art Society
- supports the work of local community art and local history groups e.g. The Rivers to the Sea project and the Local History Forum
- provides resources for local schools and retirement homes
- provides a venue for local drama and performance groups
- provides work experience for young people
- welcomes and appreciates the work of a number of committed voluntary helpers
- has a well-stocked shop selling books, gifts and cards
The staff
- give expert advice on identifying historical objects
- give talks to schools and many local groups
- help arrange displays in New Quay, Tregaron, Aberaeron and Lampeter and the cottage in Llanon with the help of local volunteers
