Financial support for businesses in Ceredigion impacted by Omicron - December 2021- February 2022

Businesses in Ceredigion impacted by the rapid spread of the Omicron virus will be eligible for emergency financial support under a new Welsh Government support package.

The Welsh Government has announced a further package of support available for retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism business and their supply chains affected by the move to alert level 2, as announced by the First Minister on Wednesday 22 December 2021.

The funding will take the form of three elements:

Non-Domestic Rate Grant

Under the latest package, retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism business and their supply chains who are registered for Non-Domestic Rates and meet the qualifying criteria may be entitled to a payment of £2,000, £4,000 or £6,000 depending on their rateable value.

Self-Catering Accommodation is not eligible under this scheme unless the accommodation holds 30 or more people or is classed as an outdoor education centre.

NDR grant guidance

All eligible businesses will need to complete a short registration form via the Councils website to be consider under the scheme.

This fund will be administered by Ceredigion Council. The registration process for this grant will be available from Thursday 13th January 2022 until 5pm on 14th February 2022 and can be accessed via this link

Emergency Business Fund

This grant will provide support to businesses in the retail, leisure and tourism businesses, freelancers in the creative sector and related supply chain businesses who do not have a property or are not eligible to apply for the Non Domestic Rates Grant (NDR). Businesses who do not employ anyone apart from the owner (Sole traders, taxi drivers and freelancers) will be entitled to a payment of £1,000. Businesses who employ staff through PAYE (in addition to the owner) will be entitled to a payment of £2,000.

Emergency Business Fund guidance

Please note that all fields are mandatory – failure to complete them will result in your application being rejected.

This fund will be administered by Ceredigion Council. The application  process for this grant will be available from Thursday 20 h January 2022 until 5pm on 14th February 2022 and can be accessed via this link:

The Local Authority has absolute discretion on the duration and terms of the fund.

Welsh Government’s Economic Resilience Fund

The third element is a reopening of the Welsh Government’s Economic Resilience Fund (ERF). On top of NDR based grants, this fund will see grants of up to £25,000 made available for severely impacted hospitality and leisure business – and their supply chains. As with previous ERF rounds, this will support businesses who have seen a reduction in their turnover of more than 60%.
