Funded by the Welsh Government through the Ports Development Fund, consultants AECOM have been appointed by the Council to carry out a review of four harbours in the county. The review will assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for each harbour to identify what possibilities exist for future developments. The review will also assess how the harbours might improve their contribution to the Welsh economy.
Councillor Gareth Lloyd, Cabinet member responsible for Economic Development and Community Development said, “Harbours are important assets and are very important to our coastal towns. I encourage anyone who has a contribution to make regarding our harbours to attend one of the workshops.”
A number of stakeholder events are being arranged to gather information and listen to people who are interested in the county’s harbours. A workshop will be held in Aberaeron on 23 November between 9:30am and 11:30am in the Council’s County Hall Offices in the centre of town. The Aberystwyth workshop will be held in the Council’s Canolfan Rheidol Offices on 23 November between 2pm and 4pm.
A workshop will be held in Cardigan on 24 November between 9am and 11am in the Guild Hall. The New Quay workshop will be held on 24 November between 1:30pm and 3:30pm in the Memorial Hall.
