A significant and exciting opportunity is available for tradesmen to work within Ceredigion under a new framework agreement.
Ceredigion County Council is acting as Lead Organisation on a new framework agreement for the delivery of minor works within the boundaries of the county. This is a collaborative arrangement between the Council and its partners which include The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth University, Tai Ceredigion, Cadwgan Building Preservation Trust, The Police and Crime Commissioner for Dyfed Powys, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Hywel Dda University Health Board.
This is a significant and exciting opportunity for businesses to bid for work as main contractors and sub-contractors to the main contractors. The framework is being let on a two year basis with an option to extend the agreement for a further two years. The expected value is £15 million over the full term. There are 9 work areas covered by the framework and these are: Electrical; Mechanical (including Plumbing); General Building; Decorating; Cleaning/Clearance; Flooring/window coverings; Disability Adaptions; Grounds Maintenance and Landscaping/tree works; and Minor Works (Larger Contracts).
These work areas have been divided into separate lots within the tender which are further sub-divided by contract value and geographical area. It is hoped that by splitting the lots up in this way it will provide the opportunity for smaller businesses to compete for the work.
The tender is now live and is being conducted electronically through etenderwales. The process is less onerous than a paper based tender and should make the process easier for all businesses. Support is available from Business Wales for those unfamiliar with the process.
The closing date of the tender is Friday, 6 October 2017 at 12 Noon, and it is expected that the agreements will be finalised for a start date in December 2017.
